Egg Drop Challenge
#5The Lab · Activity
Core area:The LabTrack:ScienceTime:60 minCost:about $10Season:Year-roundPoints:25
What you need
- 1 raw egg per team
- 20 straws, 1 roll of tape, and 4 sheets of paper per team
- Optional: plastic bag, string, cotton balls
- A safe drop spot, like a 2nd floor, bleachers, or a ladder
The Lesson
A good case spreads out the force and slows the stop. That is how a helmet or a knee pad works. It is also why you bend your knees when you land a jump.
Reflect
What did your team do when the first idea did not work?
