Red Cabbage pH Test

What you need

• 1/4 head of red cabbage
• A pot of water and a stove or kettle (adult runs the heat)
• 6 clear cups
• Test items: lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda, dish soap, sports drink, soda

The Lesson

Cabbage water changes color based on pH. Pink and red mean acid. Green and blue mean base. Sports drinks and soda are very acidic, which is hard on teeth. What you drink matters for your body, not just your thirst.
